Domiciled in the state of Iowa, Nelson Motorsports, Inc. is owned and operated by Todd Nelson.  For the 2008 season, Nelson Motorsports will own the two dirt late models driven by Mark Burgtorf and assist the Nelson Motorsports Burgtorf Racing Team in marketing and operations; a relationship Todd and Mark expect to continue for many years to come.

 

Todd began helping Mark in 1994 while then a senior at Quincy Senior High School serving as a dedicated crew member that summer through the fall of 1996.  Throughout his time as a student at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA and his professional career thereafter, Todd has helped Mark at the track when he is able to attend racing events.

 

Todd’s passion for racing dates back to his childhood days growing up in West Burlington, IA and Quincy, IL and attending races at 34 Raceway and Quincy Raceways, respectively.  From 1997 to 2004 Todd periodically raced go-karts and dwarf cars in central Iowa and Illinois.  Combining his passion for racing with his passion in finance and business led to the formation of Nelson Motorsports, Inc. in late 2007.

 

While his career as an investment banking associate necessitates that he reside in New York City, Todd intends to travel back to the Midwest throughout the summer to assist the Nelson Motorsports Mark Burgtorf Racing Team at select events.  Additionally, Todd in his capacity as president of Nelson Motorsports will also maintain the racing team’s books and records and coordinate with the team’s sponsors.
